Art Club

Students have the opportunity to participate in the Foxwell State Secondary College Art Club. This year round program provides students an opportunity to develop their creativity and try new mediums including painting, drawing and print making. This program is designed for students of all ability levels and endeavours to enhance natural ability.

Chess and Cubing Club

As a part of the Chess and Cubing Club students will learn problem solving and abstract reasoning, develop calmness under pressure and enhance skills in creative thinking, pattern recognition and strategic thinking. Cubing involves students practicing to solve the Rubik's Cube. This will involve developing skills in algorithms, speed cubing and studying different models. As a part of the program students will participate in chess and cubing competitions.

E-Sport

In this extra-curricular activity students will be involved in an interactive, skill-building program where they will gain confidence, grow friendships and develop critical thinking and creative thinking skills in a digital platform. E-sports is a growing phenomenon offering students social engagement and social skill development as well as an understanding of making healthy choices relating to digital technology.

"Genius Bar" Team

Foxwell State Secondary College runs a regular "Genius Bar" that is facilitated by students.  Team members are required to volunteer at least 1 lunch break each week to being available at the "Genius Bar" to provide technical support to other students and staff. Regular training will be made available to upskill students in the needs of a team member. There is no regular schedule for this extra-curricular activity.

 Kokoda Challenge for Youth

As a part of the Kokoda extra-curricular program, students learn the values of courage, endurance, mateship and sacrifice. Students work together, look out for each other and show commitment to a task that first seems impossible. They will train for and overcome a 15km hike in D'Auguilar National Park within 9 hours as a part of a team of 5. Students are required to fundraise as a part of this program.

Robotics and Coding

This extra-curricular activity provides students the opportunity to dive deep in to the world of robotics and coding, exploring how computer programming and robotic design can solve real world problems. Students will build skills in teamwork, creative thinking, social engagement, problem solving and programming. There are a number of competitions that students will have the opportunity to participate in.

Tech Crew

The Foxwell State Secondary College Tech Crew are responsible for facilitating major events held within the school community. These events can include the requirement for sound, lighting, audio-visual and stage management and range from the school assembly to community events. Members of the Tech Crew may be required to spend time during lunch breaks as well as before and after school preparing for events and/or training on equipment. There is no regular scheduled training for this extra-curricular activity.

Writing Club

As a part of the writing club students will form relationships with other like minded students, stay focussed and motivated on their creative journey and develop the skills for building a strong narrative. In this year long activity students may choose to enter their work in local and national competitions or simply share their work with their peers.
