students' participation in our extra-curricular activity is governed by
Department of Education guidelines.
AFL
In
our AFL extra-curricular program both girls and boys have the
opportunity to participate in local and state wide competitions and
carnivals. In the program students will develop their handball and
kicking skills.
Basketball
In
the Foxwell State Secondary College Basketball program students will
have the opportunity to develop their offensive and defensive skills,
including ball handling skills, shooting and blocking. Students will
compete in a variety of competitions throughout the school year.
Netball
Students
have the opportunity to participate in the school Netball
extra-curricular program where they will develop and enhance their
agility, strength, speed and ball handling skills.
Rugby League
In
our Rugby League extra-curricular program both girls and boys have the
opportunity to participate in the NRL Titans competition and NRL Titans
Karyn Murphy Cup as well as other gala day competitions and carnivals.
In the program students will develop their ball handling skills,
footwork, team participation, resilience and accountability.
Running Club
As members of the running club students will develop fundamental
movements and become more confident and skilful in physical activity.
Students will meet at the same time each week before school where they will
complete a warmup prior to running a course. The session will end in a
warm down activity, ensuring students are ready to return to begin class.
Soccer
As
a part of the Foxwell State Secondary College soccer extra-curricular
program, students will develop their skills in dribbling, passing,
shielding, trapping and goalkeeping. Students will compete in the Rivers
Championship during Term 1 (girls) and Term 2 (boys), as well as the
interschool sport program in Term 2.
Swimming
In
Term 4 students have the opportunity to participate in our swimming
program. The program prepares for interschool trials in Term 1 of the
following year and for our school carnival.
Touch Football
The Foxwell State Secondary Touch Football program emphasises speed, agility, fitness, ball handling skills, communication, mental alertness and team work. There are no tackles, scrums or kicks involved in this program.
Volleyball
Students have the opportunity to participate in the Foxwell State Secondary College Volleyball program where they will develop their skills in passing, setting, spiking, blocking, digging and serving.
